This is the best of the four that I tried.

I have tried the JVC HARX500, the Sennheiser HD 202, the JBuds J2, the Sony MDR-XD200, the Koss KSC75, and the Panasonic RP-HT21, and finally the JVC HARX500 all together. The JVC HARX500 is the most comfortable AND sounds the best, the treble and bass are perfect and I can wear these for hours without being tired. For some of the others like the Sennheiser and the Koss the treble is high pitched and whistley. The JVC also has better Bass and is more comfortable than the Sony. The Sennheiser HD202 was too high pitched and the ear cups were small and not comfortable for long periods. The only thing about the JVC is that it doesn't block outside noise that well like a set of cheap peltors would.

More features than specified.

These headphones sound great. The highs are very smooth. The bass is great. The midrange is a little strong, but, after a twenty four hour break-in period, the mids become more realistic. There are some features that are not specified clearly. One. The 40mm drivers are turned parallel to your ears, not your head. This directs the sound toward your ear canal. Also, the cushions are more oval than the picture shows so they match the shape of your ears. The portion of the cushions that go behind your ear is larger and wider than in the front. This eliminates a problem headphones have when they are circular in shape. It seals in back of your ears so you have a complete seal, so they have a noise isolation effect. Plus it curves around a pressure point above and behind the ears, so they are super comfortable. A good buy for the price.
