Before you give a bad rating read this..
I just received this case and immediately noticed the flaws others had reported in their reviews. Upon a phone call to Otterbox directly I was informed that Apple had given them specs that turned out to be just a few millimeters off and that is why there is such and issue with the case. Otterbox has acknowledged it and if you do a warrany claim explaining the problem they are replacing them with essentially a v2 of this case.
Quality of the case is the same just the measurements are off. Customer service at Otterbox is per usual a rockstar and immediately solved the issue with a replacement.
My only dislike that is a personal dislike is I do not like the the blue color of the rubber insert but can be easily fixed by purchasing a black insert which I will most likely do…
Hope this review helps all those questioning the integrity of Otterbox and their quality products
UPDATE: I received the new case after waiting almost a full 10 days to receive it. I am sorry to report but the case that showed up was just as messed up as the first one. The plastic back seemed to be identically longer then the first, the rubber insert did not match up to the plastic back. I immediately emailed Otterbox about the issue and at this time almost 72 hours later they have what seems to of ignored my daily email.
Maybe I was misinformed which I doubt seem the people I talked to the first time were very forthcoming there was an issue with the case. I also see someone else had attempted to get his exchanged and they told him they were not making a v2. I frankly don’t see how they cannot. v1 does not hold up to what we have all came to know as Otterbox standards. My best friend has also contacted them about his and they seem to be playing email tag with him only responding after X amount of days and kicking back his submission claiming he hasn’t submitted the correct information.
I will report back again if Otterbox ever responds to me, otherwise at this point I will be returning my product for a full refund and sending them back the replacement. I’ve already bought something else because I did not feel my $850 device was worthly of such sloppy craftsmanship at this time.
Otterbox if you read this, you got some unhappy people and some happy people but when it comes to this Commuter, the unhappy outweigh the happy.
