Pyle PLPW8D 8" DVC 4ohm sub

I bought this to replace the factory sub in my '01 Chevy Suburban. I am running this off the factory head unit and factory amp. It sounds surprisingly well with good deep bass and punch for just an 8" woofer. The old stock factory sub cannot touch this Pyle sub in terms of price, performance, sound, and quality. It fit in the factory box with slight modifications. I used the spacer from the front of the factory sub and placed it behind the Pyle 8" to gain more mounting depth. I had to use new screws and drilled 4 new holes mounting holes. All in all this speaker is a very good fit while keeping the factory look (rear quarter panel subwoofer grill did not need to be cut out). If you are using the factory amp, make sure you wire the voice coils in parallel, this will create a 2 ohm impedance to match that of the factory sub. Also I would recommend removing the carpet padding from inside the factory box and filling it with poly-fil (pillow stuffing). This will help improve the sound of the sub. I am very pleased with the results of my install with the Pyle PLPW8D subwoofer and would recommend it to anyone looking to replace the factory sub in their Tahoe, Suburban, or Yukon. - Customer Reviews: Pyle PLPW6D 6-Inch 600 Watt Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer

Lives up to the hype

I used 1 of these 6.5" subs in a t-line tuned to 40 hz. The output is impressive for a 13$ 6.5" sub, but the imaging and tightness of sound is what struck me. With a sheet of paper in front of the vent at 150 watts it does an impressive number shaking the paper violently(showed a friend and he was impressed). I would only recommend this subwoofer if you use 2 or more at a time since you cannot expect it to be near the loudness of a 12, or 15. It sounds good sealed or vented, but if you vent then tune around 28 - 32 hertz it actually plays the lows with clarity. - Customer Reviews: Pyle PLPW6D 6-Inch 600 Watt Dual 4 Ohm Subwoofer
